Free Therapy, Screening, and How It Works
We're here to break down barriers to mental health care, but our resources are limited. Here's how to see if you qualify for free, culturally responsive therapy through the BIPOC Healing Collective.
Note on crisis support: If you’re in immediate danger or experiencing a mental health emergency, please call or text 988, or report to your nearest emergency room. Our program is not currently built for crisis care.
Eligibility Screening (2-3 mins)
This quick form checks the essentials:
12 years of age or older
Identify as BIPOC
Live in Iowa (or our service area)
Not in immediate crisis
Does not have insurance coverage for therapy
Why Do We Ask About Insurance?
Our goal is to help those who have no other options for accessing care. If your insurance covers therapy, we’ll happily help match you with a provider who accepts your plan, but we ask you to leave fund-supported spots for folks who truly have none.
If you're eligible → Apply!
After the screening, if you qualify (you will know based on the message that pops up once you click submit), you’ll want to fill out the application so we can match you with a clinician who fits your cultural needs, therapy preferences, and availability. You can find the application by clicking the button below.
Matching & Availability
We will review clients in the order they apply, while also prioritizing folks facing multiple barriers (e.g., identity, income, disability). If we hit capacity, eligible applicants are placed on our waitlist and contacted as soon as spots open.
